Unofficial Write In Results

Lehigh County's posted election results do not include write candidates and the Morning Call's local coverage is spotty. The Call shows Lynn's write-in candidate for Supervisor, Mike Dietrich, received 60 votes, which would be correct if one only counted the poll at Lynnport.

For Lynn Township, my unofficial tally (all three polls) for Supervisor shows:

540 votes for Republican Brian Dietrich;
308 write in votes for Mike Dietrich (give or take 2); and
94 votes for Democrat Mel Charles.

Write in candidate Carson Baer won handily as write in for the uncontested seat as Lynn Township Auditor. My maternal great grandmother was a Baer. Maybe I'll finally have an in . . . well, maybe not.

For North Whitehall Supervisor, my unofficial tally has:

1569 for Jerry Joseph; and
318 for write in candidate Brian Brinker.

Attorney Jeff Dimmich apparently received at least 24 write in votes at the Schnecksville poll for Auditor. I don't know about the other polls in North Whitehall. I was too tired to look, but quite possibly Attorney Dimmich filled North Whitehall Township's uncontested seat for auditor.

The same Carson Baer whom was chairman of the Kermit Delong/ Mike Dietrich campaign?

Carson was critical of the $250, 000 paid to the engineers for the 537 Plan.

Perhaps with a keen set of fresh eyes peering into the books there be more sunshine in the northern tier.

Also by Ecks count, the Kermit Delong/Mike Dietrich camp has lost the last three elections in Lynn, The May 2009 primary for the Republican ticket, May 2009 primary write in for the Democrat ticket, and the November election.

Are the taxpayers in Lynn sending Kermit a message?

The same.

Not sure the election sends that message. The 2005 general election was similar to 2009 in that there were two perceived anti-development candidates on the ballot challenged by a perceived pro-development write in, Jayson Boushell.

In that three way race I got 45% of the vote, Timothy Billig got 30% and Jayson got 25%.

Here Brian got 57%, Mel Charles got 10% and the pro-development write-in, Mike Dietrich, got 32%.

For pro development forces this was somewhat better by percentage then their showing in 2005, which admittedly could be a function of a better funded primary and two elections for Mike Dietrich, but who is to say.

The interesting thing is that Tom Creighton got fewer votes for Lehigh County Commissioner from voters in Lynn Township yesterday, than he got back in Nov. of 2003 from voters in Lynn Township when he ran for Supervisor. 604 votes to 624. He actually lost local support.

The folks up in the northern tier favor candidates promoting slower growth.

Kermit’s election in 2007 was about balance on the board.

Little did we know Tom was going to freak out in 2008/2009!!!

We never thought my good friend Kermit to be a danger to the township.

For this we must apologize.

But he’s NUTZ!!!

Look at Kermit’s numbers from 2007, (554 votes)
Look at Kermit’s numbers from 2009, (308 votes)

Kermit lost 246 supporters in only two 22 months in office, there may be the real story.

Running on the platform of a AARC development to fund a sewer plant is boring, we heard that speech to many times and no results.

Besides my good friend Kermit’s highjacked “press” article says there’s a $27,816 surplus for 2010 so there is no need for a rate increase.

In the same highjacked “press” article my good friend Kermit is “quoted” forcing the sewer authority to build the new sewer plant when there is no pressure from developers at this time.

But he’s NUTZ!!!

Respectfully,
Eck Capone
